A chilling story of violence and the dark side of football fandom unfolds. A Chelsea fan, Marcus, 22, shares his terrifying experience of being stabbed by a group of Napoli ultras before a Champions League match in Naples.
Marcus and his friends, around seven or eight in total, found themselves in a dangerous situation when they turned a corner and encountered a group of Napoli hardcore supporters, all dressed in black. It was a shocking and frightening encounter, with some of his friends running for safety immediately.
"It was definitely a shock. I was in shorts, and my legs were covered in blood. We think it was a screwdriver or a sharp blade," Marcus recalls. He describes the feeling of being stabbed and the realization of his injury as he ran away, his hand covered in blood.
Chelsea FC issued a warning to its supporters, urging caution and awareness in Naples following this incident. The club's statement acknowledged the non-life-threatening injuries sustained by two fans and advised all supporters to exercise extreme caution.
Marcus, despite his ordeal, intended to attend the match but planned to leave Naples the next day, opting for a safer location in Rome. The other injured fan, who was punched and kicked, also received medical treatment.
This incident raises questions about fan safety and the potential dangers associated with hardcore supporter groups in European football. It's a reminder of the fine line between passionate support and violent behavior.
